Welcome Mr. Jason Myers

A hearty welcome to our newest band director, Mr. Jason Myers.

Mr. Myers came to us from Magnolia, TX. where he taught band and color guard for 4 years. Before that, he was the head band director at Hamilton Middle School in Houston, TX. At Magnolia he taught the concert band and took them to UIL for the very first time in the schools history. He also taught color guard and had a guard of over 60 students. The guard at Magnolia went from the Novice class to the Scholastic A class in only 3 years. They also accumulated over 20+ trophies in the span of 4 years. The MHS guard was a regional championship finalist two times and medaled at the TCGC state championships twice.

Mr. Myers originally comes from the Dallas area where he went to school in Carrollton, TX.  He attended Newman Smith High School and played saxophone, clarinet, and performed with the winter guard with a 280 member band program.  His band director was Mr. Albert Lo, who now is the head director for Churchill HS.  Mr. Myers auditioned for the University of North Texas College of Music and spent 5 wonderful years playing with the best musicians in the world.  He also participated in color guard and was captain of the UNT Green Brigade Color Guard in his junior and senior years. During college he was lucky enough to work with some of the best directors in the state like Mark McGahey (Keller HS and Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps), Scott Mason (Coppell HS), Scott Lewis (Northwest HS), Albert Lo (Churchill HS), and Brian Gibbs (Birdville HS).  He also taught color guard for Denton HS and Northwest HS during college.  He got into DCI after college and worked with several corps. He was the guard caption head for the Gulf Coast Sound Drum and Bugle corps in 2005, and in 2006  was the guard caption head for the Revolution Drum and Bugle Corps where the color guard placed second in the country in the 2006 World Championships.

Mr. Myers had this to say about joining the Buc Band:

"I am very happy to be working with the students of Brazoswood High School. I have seen the shows Brazoswood has done in the past and I have always admired the quality of musicians and the wonderful guard shows Brazoswood has produced throughout the years. I am so excited about the upcoming season and I cant wait to meet everyone!"
