BRAZOSWOOD BUCCANEER BAND STUDENT TRIP RULES

I. Housing A. General information on trips: Be sure to have at least one alarm clock per room. Please DO NOT call the front desk to awaken you. Always keep your door locked and make certain you recognize a voice before opening the door at any time. When leaving the room before curfew, please be fully dressed. Keep the noise level down. There should be no shouting, running, or similar types of disturbances that might disturb other guests. Be aware that the doors will be taped each night after roll check.

B. Curfew: Be in the room with no excess noise. After curfew, DO NOT LEAVE YOUR ROOM. Lights out on the itinerary means: in bed, no television, no radios, no lights, no noise and go to sleep.

C. Telephone: The phone in your room will never be used. Make all local and long distance calls from a pay phone. Make plans not to call home upon arrival, as the amount of pay phones will be limited for such a large group.

D. No girls in guy rooms and no guys in girl rooms EVER! Please do not hang around the rooms of the opposite sex. Keep curtains drawn and windows closed at all times.

E. Do not enter anyone’s room that is not a member of our band. Do not hang around people who are not from our group.

F. Do not use room service.

G. When checking in or out of your room, make sure it is reasonably neat. When leaving, double-check and try not to leave anything. Turn your key in at the front desk. Students should report to a sponsor anything that is broken.

H. Please do not take anything that does not belong to you, such as motel towels, ashtrays, etc. You and your roommates are responsible for any damage done to your room.

I. There will be no swapping of rooms.

J. Make a thorough check of your room immediately upon arrival for such things as alcohol, drugs, cigarettes, etc., that might have been left from a previous occupant. Immediately report anything like this to a sponsor.

II. Buses

A. Be aware that these buses will not be locked. Take all valuables with you each time you leave the bus.

B. Take proper care of all litter on the bus.

C. When the bus stops students, should remain seated until given instructions by the sponsor. When a sponsor stands and faces the rear of the bus, show resect and please listen through courteous attention and by being quiet. Be aware that the bus driver at times may need your attention.

D. Do not throw anything out the window of the bus. This is against the law.

III General Information

A. For overnight trips bring one hang-up bag and one suitcase per student. Anything that does not fit into these two items MUST BE LEFT AT HOME. Everyone’s cooperation is needed regarding this matter.

B. Each time we depart; check to see that everything is loaded on the bus. Please be certain that your music and instrument are loaded. All small instruments such as oboes, flutes, clarinets, and piccolos should be inside the bus. Larger instruments should be stored underneath the bus along with luggage.

C. Absolutely no alcoholic beverages, drugs, or tobacco allowed on school trips. If you are taking prescription medication, please let a sponsor know before we leave. The preferred way of handling this communication is by a note from your parents.

D. Follow explicitly all directions given to you by your directors or sponsors.

E. School rules must be followed on this school-approved trip.

F. Use only school arranged transportation. Do not get into a taxi or private car on a school-approved trip.

G. Listen to instructions and read your handouts. Try not to ask questions that have already been discussed or printed in itineraries or handouts.

H. You will leave with the group and return with the group unless you have arranged with the principal in advance.

I. Be aware that should you become in trouble with the law, that your parents will receive a collect call from a band director. Also realize that should a major disciplinary infraction occur, you are subject to being sent home at the expense of your parents. Further disciplinary action could await you upon return to school.

J. Motel equipment is not to be abused (elevators, ice machines, etc.)

K. Water pistols, sling shots, confetti, balloons, fireworks, and anything else of this nature should be left at home, and if brought will be confiscated and destroyed.

L. Label with your name, address, phone, and Brazoswood Band on all luggage, instrument, and carry-on luggage.

M. Bus drivers, chaperons, and directors will go first in all lines. They will be followed by seniors, load crew, juniors, sophomores, etc. Those who run to be first in line will be last in line.

N. KNOW YOUR UNIFORM NUMBERS. Check to make certain that your uniform looks great and that your shoes are polished. Be sure to wear your medals on your concert uniform

O. If an emergency arises, do not be alarmed. Talk to the following people in the following order: chaperon, band director.

P. This will be a wonderful trip! Take care of your own business, be responsible, and enjoy the trip. Please let others enjoy the trip by not being a problem to them.

Q. Dress code: Wear nothing that might be of questionable taste. YOU ARE REPRESENTING YOUR SCHOOL AND YOUR BAND. At all times dress appropriately. Be prepared for rain and cold weather.

R. We suggest that you consult the weather forecast a few days before our departure.

S. This is a school approved and school sponsored activity. Exemplary conduct is expected and anticipated at all times.
