BUC BAND BOOSTER CLUB
MEETING MINUTES
November 11, 2008

Welcome – Jeff Gilbert – opened the meeting at 7:30pm

Band Director Reports

  • Mr. Koch – Thanked all parents and students for an awesome Marching year.  Considering after Hurricane Ike we did well winning 3 contest this year and placing 15th in State.  Thank you to Daniel Montoya and Kevin Nix for being with us the whole way this year and we look forward to next year.  Region Band is practicing everyday and Region Jazz Band will have fish try outs next week.  Festival of Lights and Masquerade party will be on Saturday, November 22, 2008.  Spring Trip will be to New Orleans and will leave on Thursday, April 23rd on 1st class tour charter buses.  Cost for trip will be over $300 but less than $400 depending on how many students will be going.
  • Mr. Casey – The balance of your students spring trip account is posted on his office window.  The Jazztravaganza will be held at the Clarion on November 20, 2008 at 7:30pm.
  • Ms. Walden – no report

Secretary Minutes - Carolyn Alvarado

  • A motion was made by Jeff Gilbert to approve the Booster Meeting minutes from the October meeting.  The motion was seconded by Bob Bowden and the minutes were unanimously approved by the meeting attendees.

Treasurer Report – Daryl Dauer

  • Daryl reported $44,159.09 in the account

Board Committee Reports
First Vice President – David McKelroy

    • Thank you all for the tremendous turnout of chaperones this year and the hard help and time you all put in.

Second Vice President – Juanita Young

  • Don Davis has provided Koozies for people who make a $5 donation to enter the truck give away.  The koozie is worth a $40 oil change at Don Davis in Lake Jackson, TX.  I’m encouraging parents to take 5 to 10 tickets to sell and the money is due at the end of the month of November. 
  • A short meeting will be held tonight after the Booster meeting concerning the Toyota Center on what you need to wear and bring.
  • Toyota Center – When we work in a booth 10% net goes to the band and out of that 60% goes back to the band and 40% goes to your students account

Food/Beverage Committee – Frances Socha

  • Had a lot of fun feeding your kids and my job is up for grabs.  This position is great for a housewife or a part time worker.  If you want any information just let me know and I will be happy to fill you in.
  • Jeff Gilbert made a short speech about Frances saying how she worked during marching season even though she was feeling under the weather after her Chemo treatments.  A big thank you to Frances for all she did for our kids!!

Capital Improvement/Props (Set Designs) – Shane Pirtle (not present)

  • Jeff Gilbert announced that Shane will be selling the harps and if anyone knew of anyone interested in them.  Shane is asking for $100 a harp and is open for bids.

Public Relations/Merchandise – Bob Bowden

  • If anyone needs a band shirt or hoodie in a particular size please let Bob know before December 1, 2008.
  • Have stocking stuffers for $1 available and also key chains, hot chocolate mugs, flags, and other merchandise available.

Non-Standing Committee Reports
        Color Guard – Leah Hardesty

  • Winter Guard has already started practicing and will have their first contest on January 17, 2009 in Austin, TX.

Uniforms – Trixie Bone

  • Appreciates all the help she received this marching season
  • Blue coats will be need to be picked up before the parade and returned back on Monday

Hospitality – Beth Dauer

  • Sign up sheets are available on the table for the Masquerade party (Buc Band Olympics) for chaperones 9pm to 12am
  • Chaperones who sign up for the 9p to 12a are asked to stay to clean up and we are encouraging you to dress up as well
  • Make sure your student brings home their instrument and blue coats with them on Friday because on Saturday the band hall be decorated

Percussion Liaison – Mike Morris

  • Last weekend at Pasic the whole percussion took 2nd place in “Stand Still”
  • The tenors took “Best Tenor Line Caption”
  • Thank you to Frances for providing snacks and drinks for us.
  • Thank you to David and Cindy for providing Chaperone badges and the medical bag
  • Thank you to Mike and Carolyn for chaperoning
