Meeting Minutes

16, 2007
Meeting Summary:
1.
Welcome – Susan Campbell
opened the meeting at 7:30
·
Susan recapped the band visit to Mrs. Budwine to thank her
for her very generous donation and how touched she was with the gesture
·
Mentioned the Facts did a good job of covering this event

Band Director Reports
·
Mr. Koch’s Report
1.
UIL Concert and Sight reading contest Concert Winds 1:45 Tues, Concert
5:30 Tuesday, Symphonic 2:30 Wed
2.
Spring Trip itinerary was passed out to the parents. Plan to leave
right after school on Thursday. Will stay at DFW Marriott – North. Mr.
Koch reviewed the agenda with the parents. Looking forward to the TCU
performance. Parent’s should make sure that the student’s have plenty
of meal money. Encouraged parent’s to have their kids bring breakfast
foods as well as breakfast is not included in the price of the rooms.
3.
Question from a parent to the Booster Club about whether they can
sponsor a meal for the band – Mr. Koch stated that the UIL rules
prohibit the Booster Club from doing this.

Mr. Casey –
1.
Asked parent’s to finish paying on Chili Supper.
2.
Jazz-O-Rama – May 14 – a special guest artist will participate along
with Tito Hernandez, the local Saxophone teacher. Concert will be at
the Clarion.
3.
Gary Burton will be at the Clarion on Friday night – encouraged everyone
to get tickets.
4.
Jazz Trip Results – Temple Competition – both bands, 1st
Division. Huntsville Competition – PM Band – 1st place, AM
Band – 3rd place, and LJIS – 1st in their
division. Multiple solo awards.

Motion was made by Robin Wise and Mrs. Melba Gilbert
seconded the motion to approve the March Booster Club Minutes

Treasurer Report
– Robin Wise
·
Drew attendees attention to the Treasurer’s Report. Also,
commented that instruments have not been ordered yet with the recent
donation but the order is pending.
5.
Committee Reports
·
First Vice President – Sunny and Sam Henry
1.
Working on final details for Spring Trip and will email chaperones
2.
12 sponsorships for the truck have been received so far
·
Second Vice President – Keith Wise
1.
Talked about the Astros fundraiser. Sold just under $10,000 in food so
we are hopeful that we will clear between $700 – 800. Total time was
about 7 hours. Our booth was very positively received by the
Sponsors and Customers. Talked about the need for TABC training for all
participants and other options (popcorn and ice cream) for those that do
not want to handle alcohol sales. Next opportunity will be for
the Jimmy Buffett concert on April 21.

Baskin Robbins fundraiser – raised $255

Randall’s payments are now being received

Spirit Support – Sherri Archer
1.
May 1 – Boot Camp – plan to have a work night for parents from 6 – 9.
Sherri encouraged all parents to attend and help.

Hospitality – Frances Socha
1.
Invitations for the banquet have been sent home with students. Told
parents about timeline for returning their reservations and food
choices. Chaperones must pay for their food as well.

Date for Banquet: May 18, 7:00 p.m.

Public Relations – Doug Wright
1.
Thanked parents for their support of purchase of merchandise this year
·
Auxiliary – Rhonda Kuharski
1.
Winter Guard – 7th in State. Rhonda reiterated how proud
they were of the Guard because they were moved up a division this year.
6.
Old Business
·
Spring Trip – covered by Mr. Koch
·
School Board Follow up – Were not able to attend the
school board due to the TABC training. Some of the Board members were
able to individually meet with members of the school board and were very
encouraged by the support they received. School Board is held the 1st
Tuesday of the month at 5:00 pm. Gerald Rosnovsky mentioned that Mr.
Ripple has offered to have representation on the bond committee that may
be formed. Also, a local architect has offered his services, free of
charge. Also, Patty Sayes has the letter to the School Board for
parent’s to sign following the meeting if they have not previously
signed.

Baskin Robbins Fundraiser – Covered in Keith Wise’s report
·
Brandon Goddard Concert will be held on Friday, April 21
from 8:00 – 10:30 pm at Brazos Pointe Fellowship. Susan explained that
for the 2007 and the 2008 graduating classes, the seniors will nominate
candidates for the scholarship, then the scholarship committee, made up
of a few directors and parents, will choose the recipient(s). The
criteria will be a graduating senior that best exemplify Brandon’s
characteristics and that honors the band. In future years, the
scholarship process will move toward a more traditional written
application.

Auditions for BC are Saturday for the next school year and
for scholarships.
·
Special Recognition – given to Sherri Archer for her
dedication of time and services to the Booster Club.
·
Thanks was given to the Drumline for their participation
at Elizabeth Ney TAKS rally
