Meeting Minutes (Unapproved)

BUC BAND BOOSTER CLUB
MEETING MINUTES
February 10, 2009

Welcome:  Jeff Gilbert – opened meeting at 7:30pm

Kevin Nix (Winter Guard) – Winter Guard is practicing during class and on Tuesday from 6p-9p.  They are doing well but not have established fundamentals due to turnover and Winter Guard usually starts in October and we didn’t start till the 2nd week of school in January.  The show will be complete within the next 2 weeks.  The girls will be practicing in the gym with bleachers on 2/21 and 2/28 and everyone is welcome to watch and show their support.  They will be competing in Corpus Christi in March 7, 2009 and their costume will consist of black dance wear (Lycra not cotton).

Band Director Reports

  • Mr. Koch – Cost of trip will be around $385.00 and 197 students will be going to the Spring Trip.  $30.00 will be given to each student for meal money but all dinners are included in the package.  Jim Hunt who started the Jazz Band passed away and we are thankful to the family who donated a drum set to the Band.  Mr. Koch would like the band to participate in a Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser for Woody Joe who had a stroke 7 months ago.  The family’ insurance is running out and this would really be a great fundraiser for the family.  Justin Joe is a junior and in band.  We are looking to having the fundraiser on Saturday, April 4, 2009 and will be speaking to Mr. Ripple about not being charged the $600.00 fee for the cafeteria.  A motion was made to approve the Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser and it was unanimously approved by the meeting attendees.
  • Mr. Casey – An updated spreadsheet is located in front of his office window with your students spring trip account.  70% of chili supper ticket sales went to your students account.  Retro band shirts are for sale.
  • Ms. Walden – no report

Secretary Minutes – Carolyn Alvarado

  • A motion was made by Jeff Gilbert to approve the Booster Meeting Minutes from the January meeting.  The motion was seconded by Frances Socha and the minutes were unanimously approved by the meeting attendees.

Board Committee Reports

  • First Vice President – David McKelroy

  • Second Vice President – Juanita Young (not present) – Jeff Gilbert announced that Juanita will not be running for reelection and that her position is open for anyone interested
  • Food/Beverage Committee – Frances Socha – no report
  • Capital Improvement/Props (Set Designs) – Shane Pirtle – no report
  • Public Relations/Merchandise – Bob Bowden (not present) Jeff Gilbert announced that Bob has been looking into purchasing new items to sell for next band season.  Bob has been looking into purchasing flip flops, tote bags, sling back packs and pajama pants with B’Wood logo on them.

Non-Standing Committee Reports

  • Color Guard – Leah Hardesty – no report
  • Uniforms – Trixie Bone – no report
  • Hospitality – Beth Dauer
    • Band Banquet will be on May 8, 2009 at the Civic Center.  Sign up sheets are out to help with decorating.  The banquet is for the kids only.  A volunteer is needed to order senior shirts (logo of all shows) and cost of shirts will be $12.
  • Percussion Liaison – Mike Morris – not present
    • Percussion concert on Monday, March 9, 2009
  • Chili Supper – Debra Perry
  • Debra was given a round of applause for a great job done.  This was Debra’s last year doing the Chili Supper and she is looking for someone to take over for next year.  We had a good turn out with volunteers and with students helping.  Had a lot of donations and she is still receiving checks.  Candles were sold at the ticket table for $8.00 and had a pretty good turnout with them as well.
  • Silent Auction – Gemi Powell
    • Gemi thanked everyone who donated auction items and has collected $3,624.00 and still has $403.00 outstanding.  Gemi will be calling the outstanding to remind them of there items.
